Travis Knight
Director of Baseball Operations

 

Travis joins the USA Prime Virginia family after a distinguished playing and coaching career. A graduate of William Monroe High School, Travis was a Virginia All-State selection as a senior and was named MVP of the Virginia State All-Star Game. Upon graduating from Monroe, Travis went on to play collegiately at Charleston Southern University. Travis has been a well-recognized coach at the high school prep level with over 10 years of experience as a Varsity Head Coach throughout the Central Virginia area. He has had numerous players go on to play at the collegiate level and continues to make an impact on players with over 12 years of coaching experience at the youth/amateur levels of baseball. Travis' impact on the USA Prime Virginia program is unmatched as he oversees the development of our players, coaches. He is a tremendous asset to our program and to the players within our organization.

Tommy Weaver
Director of Youth Player Development

 

Tommy joined the USA Prime Virginia coaching staff in the Fall of 2021. A natural to coaching youth players, Coach Weaver is the Director of Youth Player Development. He serves as a youth and high school coach, while also overseeing USA Prime Virginia's development plans. Tommy also serves as an Assistant Coach for the Charlottesville Tom Sox of the Valley Baseball League. Coach Weaver played collegiately at West Virginia Tech University. While at West Virginia Tech, Tommy participated in the Valley Baseball League. A native of Luray, Coach Weaver has a strong passion for developing baseball in Central Virginia and is a tremendous asset to the USA Prime Virginia program.

Joe Maestu
Coach/Instructor

 

Joe comes to USA Prime Virginia after a successful collegiate career as a player. A native of Naples, Florida, Joe attended Palmetto Ridge High School and Naples High School. After a successful prep career Joe attended Bethune-Cookman University, a Division I baseball program in Daytona, FL. Following his time at BCU, Coach Maestu transferred to New England College where he continued his baseball career and ultimately received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Joe joined the USA Prime Virginia staff in the Spring of 2022 and will make an immediate impact on our players at both the youth and high school levels.

Sam Parkins
Coach/Instructor

 

Coach Parkins joins the USA Prime staff with years of experience at the youth, high school and collegiate level. Sam is currently an Assistant Coach at Western Albemarle High School. Prior to WAHS, Sam has coached at all levels in the Central Virginia area. A Charlottesville native, Parkins attended Albemarle High School where he holds the record for career batting average. In 1999 Sam earned 1st-Team All-State honors. After high school he went on the play collegiately at Le Moyne College where he would start as an infielder for 4 straight seasons. Sam's experiences as a youth and high school coach are tremendous in this area and he has garnered respect from coaches all throughout Central Virginia. Coach Parkins will assist with USA Prime's youth teams while also balancing his duties as a varsity coach at Western Albemarle.

Evan Renner
Coach/Instructor

Coach Renner joins the USA Prime staff after holding various positions at the high school and professional levels. Most recently Evan was an assistant coach at Western Albemarle HS. Prior to his time at WAHS he worked for 3 seasons with the Colorado Rockies organization and 1 season with the Lansing Lugnuts - The Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. A native of Spokane, WA, Evan was a 3-time All-Conference outfielder. Upon graduating high school he attended Craven Community College where he was a 2-time All-Conference infielder. Coach Renner's expertise as a player & coach will be invaluable to our program. His experiences throughout all levels of baseball will also play a major role in the impact he will have on our players, teams and overall program.

Steven Proscia
Coach/Instructor

Steven comes to USA Prime Virginia with plenty of experience at the amateur and high school levels of coaching. Steven is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he had a distinguished career both offensively and defensively. He experienced tremendous individual and team success finishing the 2011 campaign with a trip to the College World Series in Omaha, NE. After the 2011 CWS Steven was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 7th round of the MLB Draft. Steven played 4 seasons of professional baseball reaching as high as Double - A. Steven is a great coach, communicator and teacher of the game and is a tremendous asset to our program and players.

Zach Biermann
Coach/Instructor

 

Zach comes to our program from West Bend, Wisconsin and went on to play baseball for 2 years at a junior college, Polk State College. After Polk State, Biermann went to Coastal Carolina University, where he won two all-conference and All-American awards. As a team, Coastal hosted a regional and went to Georgia Tech to play in a regional. After his junior year, he went to play summer baseball in the Cape Cod league and after his senior year he was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 23rd round. In his first half year of pro baseball, Zach got to full season A ball. This past season he got as high as Double-A and finished his season playing Independent League baseball in New York.

Trevor Knight
Coach/Instructor

 

Trevor joined USA Prime Virginia in the Spring of 2021. He serves as a youth coach and is a tremendous mentor and coach to our youth players. Trevor has a long pedigree of baseball in his blood. A former standout player at James Madison University, Trevor accumulated numerous Colonial Athletic Conference accolades between 2008 and 2011. A career .368 hitter, Coach Knight was named to the First Team All-CAA, All-CAA Rookie Team, All-CAA Tournament Team and was a Collegiate Baseball/Rawlings Freshman All-American. Trevor's successful baseball career has continued for him as a coach and he provides an unparalleled impact on our players.

Thomas Powell
Coach/Instructor

 

Thomas comes to USA Prime Virginia after having played his collegiate career at Lynchburg University. A graduate of United Christian Academy, Thomas is currently the Varsity Head Coach at his alma mater. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program with a gift of being able to positively relate to and impact players of all ages within our program.

Kurt Fleming
Coach/Instructor

 

Kurt comes to USA Prime Virginia after wildly successful sports careers in both baseball and football. A Louisa native, Fleming was a three sport athlete in high school garnering All-State honors in football and baseball while also winning State Championships in 6 track & field events. Upon graduating high school Kurt was drafted in the 8th round of the 2010 MLB Draft. After playing professionally for 3 seasons Kurt left the baseball field and returned to school where he began his collegiate football career under Coach Dabo Swinney at Clemson University. Kurt comes from a baseball family - his father, Steven, played professionally and has since been a scout in professional baseball for the past 30 years. His brother Kenny who is currently a collegiate coach also played baseball at the professional level. Kurt brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the USA Prime family and will be a great asset to our teams and players.
